LAND AND CULTURAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I gratefully acknowledge the Indigenous Peoples on whose homelands we gather to enjoy this art of Soul Food Gallery. I offer deep respect to the diverse, vibrant, and resilient Indigenous Communities who make their home here today.
Specifically, I honor and acknowledge that this art resides on the unceded traditional homelands of the Kalapuya Ilihi, currently called Eugene, Oregon. I also honor and acknowledge that Kalapuya descendants are citizens of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon.
I also recognize and deeply respect that the term Soul Food has been important to Black Culture and Black People in America throughout time. Not only is this cuisine absolutely delicious, it honors the resilience, ingenuity, and magnificence of Black people then and now.
Soul Food Gallery’s intention is to create art that feeds the soul and create art experiences that invite people to be nourished at the intangible, universal soul level.
